28/07/2003 - Thyroid Cancer Treatment Receives Orphan Drug Status

OxiGene, Inc., a biotechnology firm, announced July 28, 2003 that its product, Combretastatin A4 Prodrug (CA4P), had been granted orphan drug status by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. CA4P is being developed as a treatment for four types of thyroid cancer. It is in clinical trials in the U.S. and Europe. Further details.
